Every year the Lions of District 410A (major part of southern Africa) honour women with outstanding humanitarian engagement. One of the nominated women ws Jutta Rohwer, who is exemplary in social activities and supports numerous Kindergarten-Projects all over. Unfortunalty she did not win the award but received a certificate for her endeavour to easen the plight of many children.

Schalk van der Merwe, has, for 20 years, been managing the Oude Rust Oord (previously J.T.Potgieter Tuiste vir Bejaardes) in Windhoek West very efficiently, with institutions like the Schanzen Oord having gradually been added to his portfolio.

For alsmost 5 years the Alte Feste Lions are engaged in helping the old-age home Huis Sonder Sorge in Okahandja, whenever help is required.

Lion Hans Gert Röschlau and wife Barbara, on a trip through a most beautiful southern Namibia. paid a visit to the Sacred Heart Hospice in Mariental and admired its cleanliness and efficiency. The hospice is a project of Lions Club Gütersloh-Wiedenbrück and its late member Pastor Behler with the logistical support of Lions Alte Feste.
