31.01.2007 Lions Twinning-evening

New twinning-partnership with LC Ladysmith

At the end of last year, Dr. Günter Daschiel, a member of the Lions Club Ladysmith, visited the Lions Club Windhoek Alte Feste.
Dr. Daschiel was so pleased with the hospitality of the Alte Feste Lions, that he suggested a "Twinning", a long-distance partnership, between Windhoek and Ladysmith.

Both clubs agreed and the partnership was sealed on the previous weekend. Ten Lions travelled from Ladysmith to Windhoek on the previous Saturday, 27th of January, to take part in a banquet at the Lions-Den clubhouse, which made the partnership official.
During the Twinning-evening, Club-President Steve Cockroft (LC Ladysmith) and Hans-Gert Roeschlau (LC Windhoek Alte Feste) held short speeches, while the initiator of the partnership, Dr. Daschiel, acted as master of ceremonies and led skilfully through the evening. After a delicious dinner, the partnership documents were signed and handed over.

The official part of the evening ended with a wonderful dessert, after which the gentlemen took off their coats and continued their celebration at the bar of the clubhouse, until morning dawned.
During the visit of the guests from Ladysmith a braai-evening was held, sightseeing in town took place, and a tour of the Namibian Breweries was organised.
It has already been decided that an Alte-Feste-delegation will travell to Ladysmith for a return-visit, living up to the Lions motto: WE SERVE - even past borders.
