For more than 3 years now, the Lions Club Windhoek Alte Feste entertains friendly relations with the Lions Club Rendsburg Königsthor in Germany.
Following Lions friend Uwe Mäder's visit in March, another delegation from Schleswig-Holstein arrived. This time Eva and Georg Kallsen were met on the 29th of November in the Lions Club. After the usual welcoming, Georg Kallsen informed the Lions about his task as manager of the Norddeutsche Gesellschaft für Diakonie (Northern-German society for deaconry). He talked about his round trip through Namibia during which he visited various farms on which the so called "bush kids" (German: Buschschüler) are residing.

Kallsen emphasised the German tax payers' financial input to give these kids a last chance at resocialisation and informed the Lions about the very positive outcomes these farm residencies had for most of the youngsters. 90 % of these kids are able to graduate from high-school in Namibia, followed by further education in Germany.
Kallsen pointed out that his "Buschschüler" only reside on farms (not in the towns) and that the high resocialisation rate can only be accomplished in these surroundings. After this report, a long discussion followed and as is usual in the Beergarden of the club-own Lions-Den, it was a long and entertaining evening, which tightened the friendship with Rendsburg.
The Kallsen's are so enthusiastic about Namibia and her people, that they are planning further visits. Lions International once more lived up to it's name and motto: "WE SERVE". We serve boundlessly!
