12.02.2007 Prize money serves as motivation

DOSW incentivises learning – Lions support

On the occasion of the annual Grade 10 exams (JSC-Qualification) the teaching staff of the Delta Oberschule Windhoek (DOSW) have thought up a plan to motivate pupils and at the same time reward good results. Those with the best marks in a subject (either on school level or national level) will receive a prize money.
Headmaster Koch approached the Lions with his wish for support, which was granted after a short discussion during the monthly Lions meeting. After all, the Club sponsors the school's campaign already since 2003. As young members of all ethnic groups would be able to profit from this financial incentive, the decision was an easy one.

During the festive award ceremony, Lions-president Hans-Gert Röschlau handed over a cheque worth N$ 5,000 (Five Thousand N$) to headmaster Koch, who thanked in the name of the teaching staff and pupils for this generous donation.
For decades the Alte Feste Lions have preferably supported the elderly, as well as schools/educational institutions but among them mainly farmschools. All in accordance with the Lions-Motto "WE SERVE".
